What FahreGreen does not do

This section comes first on purpose, because it answers most of the usual questions:

  • No user account. FahreGreen has no login and no registration.
  • No server of our own. MajuSoft runs no server the app sends data to. There is no place where your trips reach us.
  • No tracking and no analytics. No analytics SDK, no advertising, no tracking pixels.
  • No third-party libraries that collect or transmit data.
  • No crash reports through third parties.
  • No sharing of data with third parties, neither for sale nor for any other purpose.

Where your data is kept

On your iPhone. Your trips, the stops detected at traffic lights, the traffic lights you add yourself and your recent destinations are stored in a local database on your device.

There is no iCloud sync and no copy at MajuSoft. The developer can neither see where you have driven nor whether or how you use the app.

The traffic light positions are included in the app and are not downloaded. They come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Apple services FahreGreen uses

FahreGreen shows a map and can guide you to a destination. Data is sent to Apple for this. These are the only transmissions the app makes, and they go to Apple only, not to MajuSoft.

Map view. The map comes from Apple Maps. So that the right section can be loaded, the displayed map area is sent to Apple.

Destination search. When you search for a destination, your search term and a search area of roughly 50 by 50 kilometres around your current position are sent to Apple. Without a destination search this does not happen.

Route calculation. When you choose a destination, your current position and the destination are sent to Apple to calculate the route. If you leave the route while driving, it is recalculated, and your position at that moment is sent again.

Siri. The voice command for reporting a traffic light is processed by Siri, that is by Apple, according to the Siri settings on your iPhone. The reported traffic light itself is stored locally only.

Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy. MajuSoft receives none of it and has no access to it.

Permissions

FahreGreen asks for one permission: your location.

FahreGreen records your trip to detect the traffic lights on your route. Recording continues when you lock the iPhone and stops when you end the trip. The data stays on your iPhone.

The app asks for location access while using the app. During an ongoing recording it also accesses your location while the iPhone is locked. iOS shows this with the blue indicator in the status bar. Recording ends when you end the trip.

Without this permission the app cannot record a trip. The other parts of the app, such as the demo trips, remain usable.

Passing data on when you choose to

In the summary of a trip you can export the raw data as JSON. The data leaves your device only if you start the export yourself and pick a destination for it, such as an email or another app. MajuSoft is not involved.

Display on the Lock Screen

During a trip FahreGreen can show a Live Activity on the Lock Screen. It is updated entirely by your device. There are no push notifications and no server behind it.

Crash reports

We receive crash reports only through Apple, and only if you have allowed sharing with developers in your iPhone settings.

During the test phase on TestFlight

Before release, FahreGreen is distributed to invited testers through Apple’s TestFlight.

Feedback through TestFlight, that is a screenshot, a comment and optionally your email address, is sent by you. It arrives in our developer account at Apple. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the management of the test group.

No data collection as defined by the App Store

Apple defines “data collection” as sending data to the developer or to third parties the developer can access. FahreGreen does not do this. The transmissions described above go to Apple and are processed there for the request in question; MajuSoft does not receive them. The App Store listing therefore states: Data Not Collected.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Since MajuSoft has no access to the data stored in the app, these rights relate to data you have sent us by other means, such as email.
